“[Aaron the High Priest]…take…two goats… present them before the L-RD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. …cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the L-RD …the other lot for the scapegoat.
…bring the goat upon which the L-RD's lot fell, and offer him for [the peoples' - Jews] sin offering.
…the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive… let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. Leviticus 16:7-10
Jesus said,
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law [Torah] or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17
This being so, Christ MUST fulfill the SPECIFIC requirements of God’s “Law of Atonement” as set forth in Leviticus 16:7-10.
Leviticus 16:7-10 states God’s atonement requirements:
1. The High Priest
“…the High Priest, whose name was Caiaphas…” Matthew 26:3
2. Two scapegoats
“…Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham…“ Matthew 1:1
“…a ... prisoner, called Barabbas.” Matthew 27:16, Mark 15:7
3. Selection of scapegoats: One is sacrificed ~ One is cast into the wilderness,
“…Pilate asked…, "Which one do you want... Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?" Matthew 27:17
“…the chief priests and … elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas …”
"Which of the two do you want me to release…?" asked the governor. Barabbas," they answered. Matthew 27:20-21
...Pilate released Barabbas… He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified. Mark 15:15
Torah Law of Witnesses
According to Torah (Old Testament), “By the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses, a matter shall be established.”
Matthew, Mark, Peter, & John, were all eyewitnesses to the crucifixion of Christ.
"And the Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
...when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day,
many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did." John 6:3-4
"Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end." John 13:1
"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression…to make an end of sins…to make reconciliation for iniquity…to bring in everlasting righteousness…to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy." Daniel 9:24
ALL Christians accept Christ's sacrifice as the only atonement for sin and right relationship with God.
- Christian’s did not write the Messianic promises
- Christian's did not write the Torah requirements
- Christian's did not write over 300 prophesies of Christ in Tanakh

The Scapegoat by William Holman Hunt, 1854. Hunt had this picture framed with the quotations "Surely he hath borne our Griefs and carried our Sorrows; Yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of GOD and afflicted." (Isaiah 53:4) and "And the Goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a Land not inhabited." (Leviticus 16:22); the background features the Judean Hills.
